Forty-five minutes southeast from Chandler on the 60. The drive is flat desert and cotton fields. Florence appears like a town that stopped updating its main street around 1920. Eso tiene su encanto.

Park and walk Main Street

Side streets off Main have free parking. Walk the historic district before the music starts. Courthouse, old storefronts, murals. Florence is quiet in a way that makes noise feel earned.

Music starts

Three acts across seven hours. Evelyn Cools opens with folk-country vocals that carry across the street. Find your spot, settle in.

4:30 PM

Chauncey Jones

Phoenix-based country artist with 12,000 followers and anthems about family, love, and the roads in between. This is where the energy shifts from background to destination.

Eat and regroup

Road to Country Thunder is the free annual warm-up for Country Thunder Arizona, the four-day country music festival that takes over Florence every April. The Road event shuts down Main Street in Historic Downtown Florence for an afternoon and evening of live country music, food vendors, and the kind of small-town energy that makes you wonder why you do not leave the city more often. Three acts in 2026: Evelyn Cools (folk-country), Chauncey Jones (Phoenix-based country, 12K+ following), and Nathan Dean and The Damn Band (headliner, country rock). Country Thunder proper runs April 9-12 at Canyon Moon Ranch.

Historic Downtown Florence

Main Street shuts down for the stage. Florence is one of the oldest towns in Arizona, founded in 1866. The buildings on Main Street still look like it. Country music against that backdrop is not accidental.
