The Container Crawl

  • 6-8 hours
  • Walkable loop
  • $100-120/person
Verified Mar 22, 2026Active
Location
Roosevelt Row / Downtown Phoenix, AZ
Duration
Afternoon into evening (6-8 hours)
Status
Active
Timing
Oct-Apr weekends (game day dependent)

Consent cue

Multiple drink stops across three venues. Agree on pacing before the first pour. The walk between Churchill and the arena is 15 minutes, a natural check-in point. If energy drops after the game, skip the arcade and walk back to the car. No one has to close the whole loop.

How it flows

1:00 PM
Arrive at The Churchill
Park north of Portland St. Walk the perimeter and read every menu before ordering anything.
1:30 PM
First round
Pizza or burgers. Share one plate between two. The goal is tasting, not filling up.
2:15 PM
Second round: the wildcard
Hawaiian plate lunch, tacos, whatever rotated in this season. Split again. Pidan uno y compartan.
3:00 PM
Sweet reset
Acai bowl or skillet cookie with ice cream. One is enough for two people.
3:30 PM
Bar round
Palomas, local beer, or agua de jamaica for the driver. Sit in the courtyard and let the afternoon stretch.
4:30 PM
Recon walk
Browse Roosevelt Row galleries and murals. Digest. Check in: everyone still good for the game?
5:15 PM
Walk to Footprint Center
Fifteen minutes through downtown. The arena appears between buildings around Jefferson St.
6:00 PM
Tipoff
Upper deck, row 12. Bad opponent, cheap seats, cold AC. Order one arena snack for the experience, not the value.
8:30 PM
Leave early
Walk north to Roosevelt Row. Arena traffic needs thirty minutes to clear. That is what the arcade is for.
8:45 PM
Cobra Arcade
Tokens, pinball, neon. Last drink for those who want one. Water for the driver.
10:00 PM
Head home
Walk half a block to the car. Llenos y contentos.

Pivots and backups

No game tonight?
Skip the arena. Extend the Churchill crawl, walk Roosevelt Row at sunset, close at Cobra.
Too hot to walk?
Rideshare the mile between Churchill and Footprint Center. $5-8.
Kids in the group?
Churchill is family-friendly. The game works for all ages. Swap Cobra for Churn ice cream on Roosevelt Row.
Someone's not drinking?
Churchill has Infruition (smoothies, juices). Arena has every non-alcoholic option. Cobra serves food and soft drinks.

Comfort cues

Before the first pour
Agree on pacing before anyone orders a drink. Three venues with bars ahead. Name the driver or the rideshare plan now.
The walk
Fifteen minutes between Churchill and the arena. A natural pause to check in. Anyone need to slow down, eat more, or call it early?
After the buzzer
Cobra is optional. The car is near Churchill either way. If the group is tired, skip the arcade and walk straight to the car. No one has to explain.

Checklist

Comfortable walking shoes for the 1-mile loop between venues
Cash for Cobra Arcade tokens (machine at entrance, no cards)
Clear bag for Footprint Center entry
Phone charged for mobile tickets (Ticketmaster app)
Designated driver or rideshare plan for three drink-stop venues
Check Suns schedule and buy tickets on SeatGeek before you go
Sunscreen if arriving before 4 PM (Oct-Apr still gets warm)

A note on the lineup

The Churchill rotates vendors. The names above reflect March 2026. The containers will hold different kitchens by the time you read this, and that is part of the point. The crawl strategy stays the same: walk the perimeter, share plates, alternate savory and sweet, use the bar as a reset. The containers change. The courtyard does not.

Map & stop intel

Google Maps data powers the route, live place ratings, and fresh photos. Each stop mirrors the check-ins called out in the itinerary.

1

The Churchill

Shipping containers painted in primaries, arranged around a courtyard with string lights and shared tables. The vendors rotate, but the format stays: walk the perimeter, read every menu, then commit to a crawl strategy.

901 N 1st St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Check-in: Park on residential streets north of Portland St. Free on weekends, half a block away.

2

Footprint Center

Upper deck seats against a bad team run $15-20 on SeatGeek. The arena AC after a day outside is its own kind of relief. Nachos cost what a full plate did at Churchill, but the scoreboard is 40 feet wide.

201 E Jefferson St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Check-in: Clear bag policy. Water bottles sealed. Tickets on the app. Leave 5 minutes before the final buzzer to skip the exit crush.

3

Cobra Arcade Bar

One block from Churchill, behind a black door with a snake on it. 200+ vintage arcade machines, pinball, neon everywhere. Tokens from the machine at the entrance, cash only. 21+ with ID.

801 N 2nd St, Phoenix, AZ 85004

Check-in: If the group is done after the game, the car is already parked near Churchill. No guilt in calling it.
